A number of marine businesses came away from the 2007 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in the sure knowledge that Austrade's export facilitation magic had done the trick for them.
Many of Austrade's exhibiting clients were already selling overseas; others were newcomers, anxious to join Australia's $750 million a year marine export industry.
Their export successes were all their own - but with very efficient added value by Austrade's Marine Industry Network, its expertise and experience.
Austrade was there in full force at Sanctuary Cove, introducing buyers to sellers, business matching, providing professional advice, supporting and generating business leads.
Seawind Catamarans reaped the wind at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show, selling 11 vessels - six Seawind 1160s and five Seawind 1000XLs - totalling close to $5 million.
“We see Austrade as a kind of ‘exporter’s toolbox’,” said Seawind’s Marketing Manager, Mr Brent Vaughan.
"We call on Austrade to assist us with tools and expertise to attract new export markets, and they are very helpful."
"For example, with Austrade's support, we recently signed up a dealer in Phuket, Thailand, in a transaction worth about $500,000, taking advantage of the Thai Government's policy on zero boat tax."
Another Sanctuary Cove exhibitor to benefit from Austrade's international network is Quintrex.
"We produce 16,000 aluminium boats a year, exporting over 1000 boats to 22 countries, but Austrade were particularly helpful in our landing our first orders from Russia", said Quintrex Export Manager, Ms Trevlynn Petzke.
“Austrade visited us and identified a potential customer in Russia who wanted aluminium boats, put us in touch and helped enormously with language communication, paperwork and so on.
“Soon after, the first order came through; then two more and so far we have delivered a few containerloads of boats to Russia,” she said.
